Lafayette, LA – Cajun Country!

Laissez les bons temps rouler! Look it up.  I spent the day in Lafayette (about an hour from my grandparents home) because I always knew it was the heart of Cajun country. It has an amazing history and incredible food.  My mom and I went to visit one of her friends and I requested that we head downtown so I could check out the “main street” and really the part of town that maintained some of the old architecture.  It’s a bit strip mall-ish in some areas but I think I got some good shots of the good stuff. If you look closely, you’ll see some New Orleans inspired architecture and plantation style mansions!

Yes this is Lafayette, not New Orleans…can’t you just see yourself tossing beads from the balcony?

Downtown! Soooo cute. Can you see the Xmas decorations?

The old train station, now renamed the “Rosa Parks Transportation Center”…so crazy to think about…

Random country home on the street, so beautiful

It wouldn’t be the South if you didn’t see a bunch of these!

One more because I want to
