Monday Memories: Hometown Glory

Yea yea, I know it’s Tuesday…I’m just going to go ahead and pretend that today is Monday and therefore my Monday memories story makes sense.  Thanks for playing along!  So today’s Monday memory is not from a trip that took place a long time ago (in fact it was this past weekend), but it was to a destination that holds a lot of memories for me.  This weekend I went to Maryland to visit my mom and to spend time in my hometown of Arlington, VA.  Unfortunately, Arlington is not as picturesque as I remember (unless you just loooove strip malls) becase there’s a ton of development going on all around town.  The town i grew up in was very quaint and family-friendly with a huge emphasis on community.  I’m not saying that Arlington isn’t that way anymore or that those single-family home neighborhoods can’t be found, it’s just that the area seems to be catering to the mid-20s to mid-30 crowds with new condo buildings and trendy restaurants popping up everywhere you look.  To each their own I guess.

Anyway, my best friend and I spent some time at our favorite spots, enjoy the pictures below and please try to stop by Bayou Bakery if your travels ever take you to Arlington! Have a beignet for me 🙂

Oh! Apologies for not having more pictures of downtown DC. It rained like the devil all day Sunday, ruining my sightseeing plans. Next time!

Welcome!
