Gosh, I tell myself I’m going to start blogging regularly then disappear for five days, sorry guys! I hope you had a great President’s Day weekend! Did you go anywhere? I spent most of the weekend working and I’m nowhere near where I need to be, but I wanted to come up for air for a quick moment to discuss something that has been a giant distraction for me lately.  I CANNOT stop thinking about all the upcoming music festivals taking place this summer in America and abroad! I feel like everyday an awesome festival that I’ve heard about but never attended announces that their tickets will be going on sale this weekend. HOW WILL I CHOOSE?!

Everything about music festivals call to my inner nomadic-hippie.  Most are in fantastic destinations that are the perfect mix of hip and cool without being pretentious.  Some are located in straight up fields where you have to camp and not shower for three plus days.  Talk about getting to know your fellow-man!  There’s a sense of camaraderie because everyone is there for the same reason, to appreciate music with no pretense. No one cares what they look like (or smell like), and it’s all about relaxing, twirling (that’s what I would do), and making new friends.  Something about music festivals just gets down to the nitty-gritty how music inspires and moves people from all walks of life.  I’ve always dreamed of heading to Coachella but the line-up didn’t excite me this year and I heard a few interesting stories from friends who attended last year…maybe next year!  Here are some festivals I’ve got on my list…knowing that I can financially attend ONE at most if any at all, ha!  Would LOVE your feedback!

The Governors Ball (June 7-9) Randall’s Island, NY – Welp, Kanye West and Kings of Leon are headliners which makes me want to hand over my credit card right now.  My only hesitation with this festival is a schedule conflict but all my NY music friends have had nothing but great things to say about this hip hop meets rock meets electro celebration.

Bonnaroo (June 13-16) Manchester, TN – Bonnaroo is a four-day music and arts festival located in central Tennessee, a state I haven’t visited yet!  From the looks of it, it’s all music, love and hugs.  Also…Mumford and Sons is headlining this year. I’m soooooo in.

Firefly Festival (June 21-23) Dover, DE – Firefly isn’t 100% on the radar of all the big wig music journalists but that’s what I like about it. It’s steadily increased in popularity over the years and this years festival will feature the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster the People, Kendrick Lamar and more. I’d say this is next on my list if Bonnaroo doesn’t work out.

Lollapalooza (August 2-4) Chicago, IL – Lolla is a classic.  It’s been on my festival list since I was in high school.  Unfortunately they don’t have any information about their 2013 line up or when to purchase tickets, but you can sign up for their newsletter for presale info!

Of course I’ve also got my eye on Catalpa, also held on Randall’s Island, and Trillectro, DC’s first ever hiphop and electronic music festival.  Trillectro burst on the scene last summer and was a huge success so I can’t wait to see what they have in store this year! Across the pond, the line-up for the Wireless Festival in London makes me want to shake someone. Jay Z AND Justin Timberlake?? Seriously? Glastonbury is also back this year after taking last year off but no acts have been announced yet. What do you think of my music festival wish list? Are there any can’t miss festivals I missed? Let me know!
